In this masterclass, participants will examine the issue of maritime security, in connection with the geo-strategic challenges facing the stability of ASEAN. We will then examine the concept of stability from a legal angle, considering ASEAN’s authority as a security institution. Lastly, we examine the economic context, considering the role that how maritime trade determines - and is influenced by - the control over Southeast Asian waters.
Objectives
To increase participants’ understanding of maritime security and geo-strategic challenges in Southeast Asia, with a view toward more comprehensive reporting surrounding the subject
To raise new questions and issues in connection with the subject
To generate new story ideas and angles in connection with the topic
Schedule
kiniacademy will be welcoming all participants and introducing the speakers of the session. An overview of the topic will be provided along with poll results from the poll participants had taken preceding the event.
A discussion will be led by the keynote speaker where questions that were provided before and during the masterclass will be addressed. Participants are encouraged to ask questions that will aid in the production of their stories and enhance the discussions from the Masterclass topic.
kiniacademy will end the Masterclass session and provide a few remarks in regards to the session.
